Favorite Christmas Cookies

This is our family’s favorite Christmas Cookie recipe and we have been making it for over 100 years! Five ingredients and 20 minutes later and you’ll have these sweet, melt-in-your-mouth celebration cookies. Eat now or forever hold your peace!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar divided
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup PLANTERS pecans finely chopped
  • red and green sugar sprinkles optional
  • Hershey's Kisses, peanut M&Ms, etc. optional

Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix by hand: butter, 1/2 cup of sugar and vanilla in a large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add flour, beating on low speed after each addition until well blended.
  4. Add nuts; mix well.
  5. Shape dough into 48 (1-inch) balls *optional - insert a hershey's kiss, peanut M&M or any other tasty item into the center of the dough before baking for an added surprise.
  6. Place 1-1/2 inches apart on baking sheets.
  7. Bake 15-20 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned.
  8. Cook 5 minutes on baking sheets.
  9. Roll warm cookies, 1 at a time, in remaining sugar in a small bowl until evenly coated.
  10. Place on wire racks and cook completely.
