This is our family’s holiday “cookies”. It is the first thing I remember making with my mom. It was a really big deal once we were allowed to mix the flour and caramel by ourselves, as that can be a sticky & messy process with kids.

base
  • 1 cup unsifted flour
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup butter melted
topping
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 1 jar carmel topping
  • 1 package chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped

  • 1 cup unsifted flour
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup butter melted
topping
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 1 jar carmel topping
  • 1 package chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large bowl combine (6) "base" ingredients
  3. Mix until well combined and pat evening into an ungreased 13x9 baking dish
  4. Bake 10 minutes until lightly browned
  5. Remove baking dish from oven, sprinkle on chocolate chips & walnuts.
  6. Drizzle on carmel mixture evenly over top.
  7. Return dish to oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Cool then cut.
